12 – 18 November 2012 is Antibiotic Awareness Week. The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care is working with NPS MedicineWise, state and territory health departments and the private hospital sector to coordinate a number of activities during the week and provide a range of resources for hospitals to use to promote the safe and appropriate use of antibiotics. Information on the Antimicrobial Prescribing Survey to be conducted during the week is available below.
- Antibiotic Awareness Week is supported by the Australasian Society for Infectious Diseases and Australian Society for Antimicrobials.
- Information on activities and resource materials available such as posters, brochures and a PowerPoint presentation will be posted on this webpage from 24 October 2012.
- Hospitals and health professionals are encouraged to participate in Antibiotic Awareness Week and use this opportunity to highlight the problem of antimicrobial resistance and promote the safe and judicious use of antimicrobials in our community.
